Daily Mirror list Hermanus at Number 3

UK Daily Mirror's Top 10 Places to visit during World Cup 2010 have listed Hermanus as #3. Soccer fans seeking off-pitch action will find lots to do from whale-watching to wine-tasting.

The best land-based whale watching capital of the world, Hermanus, offers so much. A cliff path winds from one side of the town to the other and whales come so close they can be seen in the small bays. They begin arriving in May and can be regularly seen until late autumn.

Times Explorer in Hermanus and Stanford

The Times Explorer team spent 3 days travelling around Hermanus and Stanford visiting restaurants - they loved Fabio's Ristorante - browsing through the shops, wine tasting and seeing what the area has to offer. They were truly fascinated by Birkenhead Breweries' variety of beers (and great view) and enjoyed the quaintness of Stanford.

They decided to "linger longer" and stayed at Pebble Beach Guesthouse for 3 nights because they enjoyed it so much and were so well pampered.

Times Explorer in Betty's Bay and Kleinmond

The Times Explorer quarter spent Friday travelling through Betty's Bay and Kleinmond - visiting the penguin colony, enjoying the unique and titillating stores in Harbour Road and enjoy the beauty of the area.

They spent a comfortable night at the lovely Moments Guesthouse in Kleinmond, being spoilt by Ilse and Memory.

Times Explorer visiting the Cape Whale Coast

Sunday Times Explorer's quartet will be visiting the Cape Whale Coast this weekend, so look out for their cheerful looking bus and give them a Whale of a Welcome!

They will be staying in Kleinmond on Friday night and in Hermanus on Saturday and Sunday, and will be discovering the amazing treasures in the Cape Whale Coast and sharing this information with their followers and readers.

Cape Epic commissions CWC artist Niël Jonker

The Absa Cape Epic commissioned artist Niël Jonker to create a bronze trophy for the race winners, which was unveiled at the V&A Waterfront on 20th March 2010.

The artist Niël Jonker is surrounded in his everyday life by the abundant light and creativity of the rural landscape. The small hamlet of Baardskeerdersbos where he lives, lies in the Cape Whale Coast, Overberg area of the Western Cape, South Africa. It lies amongst rolling hills and mountains which stretch beneath open skies to the coast-line of Walker Bay. There is a whole lot in the air which smacks of the creative marriage of nature and human endeavour as can be experienced in Provence or Tuscany - from the extraordinary natural light playing across the landscape, to the celebration of country values in the communal life of a rural village.

Discover 20 GeoCaches / 'Treasures' as you move from Kleinmond - Hermanus - Stanford - Gansbaai while you have loads of fun enjoying the activities, wine tasting and beer sampling.

Starting at 9am at the Hemel-en-Aarde Village in Hermanus on the 1st May 2010.

GeoCaching / GPS Treasure Hunt in the Cape Whale Coast

Join us on Saturday 1st May on the 2nd GeoCaching / GPS Treasure Hunt in the Cape Whale Coast.

Enjoy a day filled with 'adrenaline activities' : tree top slides, "rock" climbing, kayaking, archery, horse riding, digging in the sand - while you use your GPS system to find the hidden "treasures" in the area from Kleinmond - Hermanus - Stanford - Gansbaai.

We will end the day wine tasting, food paring, beer sampling and enjoying delicious eats.
